Roland Zonai serves as the Business Development Director at Genera Research, where he leads investor relations, fundraising strategy, and strategic partnership development for the OSTEOGROW-C program. His expertise lies in bridging the gap between deep-tech innovation and commercial viability, ensuring that groundbreaking science is supported by a robust business case.
Roland has extensive experience as an expert evaluator for the European Commission's most competitive funding programs, including the EIC Accelerator and Horizon Europe. In this capacity, he has conducted technical and commercial evaluation on over 100 deep-tech startups, primarily in the life sciences and biotech sectors, contributing to the allocation of over €120M in funding. His work with the EIC and EISMEA has also involved co-designing the technical due diligence framework used for investment negotiations by the EIC Fund.
Prior to his current role, Roland worked as an innovation consultant and market research expert, developing go-to-market strategies for clients ranging from biotech startups to Fortune 500 pharmaceutical companies across Europe and Southeast Asia. He holds an MSc in BioEntrepreneurship from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and a BSc in Bioengineering.
